Dr. Burchardt has 20 years of experience in battery and energy storage projects and companies. Before completing his PhD in electrochemistry at UiO in 2000, he was headhunted to Zetek Power in the late 1990s, where he worked on developing fuel cells for installation in vehicles. Later, as a project leader at SINTEF in Norway, he focused on developing new fuel cells, hydrogen production units, and batteries. In 2004, Burchardt founded ReVolt Technology to develop and commercialize new battery technology. The company raised more than $20 million in venture capital and over $20 million in soft funding. Based in Switzerland and later in Germany, the company's focus was on the development of range-extending batteries for electric vehicles in close collaboration with European automotive companies. In 2010, Burchardt secured an ARPA-E DOE contract worth $10 million for the development of a flow-based EV battery program in Portland, USA. In recent years, Burchardt has been engaged in the automotive industry as the founder and CEO of ECO STOR AS, repurposing used EV batteries for energy storage in buildings and grid-connected systems.

CTO, Biim Ultrasound AS — 2013-2017
‍Burchardt co-founded the company and is the inventor of several of the company's patents. He led all R&D activities, prototyping, FDA approval, and production for the company's medical ultrasound device product. The company signed an exclusive contract with a major medical supplier, and the product received FDA clearance for product launch. Burchardt was responsible for modeling the ultrasound signal, mechanical and electrical design. The company was sold for USD 20 million to a listed medical device company.

‍CEO, InCube AS — 2012-present
‍Burchardt co-founded and has led the company from concept to commercialization. The focus has been on clean tech for buildings. Burchardt developed and spun out the company Baurox AS, a new cellular glass-based building system for cost-effective integration of PV and Energy Storage in homes. The incubator INCUBE's latest spin-off is INCUBE Lighting, a company for fiberoptic lighting with OBOS as the lead investor.

‍Founder of the company and inventor of several new battery systems. Burchardt led the R&D, prototyping, and scaling for pilot production in both Germany and Portland, USA. He was responsible for catalyst development, electrode formulation, and mechanical design of the flow battery, as well as the integration of range extenders into EVs.

‍Senior Scientist, SINTEF — 2001-2004
‍Project leader and manager of the corrosion science and battery groups. Cross-functional role responsible for several larger programs with industrial partners and universities. R&D activities in material technology with a focus on steel, aluminum, titanium, zinc, and PP/PE plastics.

‍Scientist, Zetek Power — 1999-2001
‍Development of low-cost energy conversion solutions with responsibility for scaling product on a pilot line, debugging solutions, and securing LEAN transfer and operations on the production line. The technology focus was on catalyst development and pilot production of thin films.

Looking at ECO STOR from the CFO role, Halvor is curious about people, technology and operations, and works across the business to enable growth and identify areas of improvement. Outside of the office, Halvor is a keen outdoorsman and can be found skiing with his family or hiking in the mountains with his fishing gear. Halvor joined ECO STOR from the global SaaS company Confirmit, where he held the position of Chief Financial Officer. Prior to Confirmit, he spent five years with Kvaerner, an engineering and construction organization delivering complex projects to the international energy industry, as Vice President, M&A and Business Development. He also has experience from the Carlsberg Group and has worked as a management consultant with the Boston Consulting Group. Halvor has a master’s degree in Finance and Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH).
